CBS calls for parental leave shake up

The Confederation of British Surgery are keen to support its members to navigate through various aspects of clinical practice. Parental leave, which for many still remains a taboo subject, has clear guidelines legally but remains an area that may cause anxiety, disharmony amongst colleagues and confusion either as a trainee, a consultant or a trainer dealing with a trainee. CBS recently undertook a survey looking at aspects of parental leave provision, with the ultimate aim of putting together a working group to work through these issues and create a framework and support for all, to ensure that taking parental leave and the return from this is negotiated as smoothly as possible.
