Surgical Advisory Service Strengthens Advisory Panel with Four New Appointments

The Confederation of British Surgery (CBS) is pleased to announce the appointment of four highly respected surgeons to its Surgical Advisory Service (SAS) Advisory Panel, further strengthening the service's ability to support surgeons facing professional and workplace challenges.

Joining the panel are three leading urological surgeons, appointed in collaboration with the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS): Professor Duncan Summerton, Susan Willis and Thomas Watcyn-Jones. They are joined by Consultant Plastic Surgeon Mr Nick James, whose expertise will further enhance the breadth of specialist support available through the service.

The SAS provides confidential, independent advice and guidance to surgeons experiencing difficulties in the workplace, including employment issues, bullying, harassment and other professional concerns. The service is designed to offer early, expert support, helping surgeons navigate challenging situations with confidence and discretion.

Available to all CBS members, the SAS also works in partnership with a number of Surgical Specialty Associations to extend access to an initial confidential consultation. This includes members of the British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS), ENT UK, the Society of British Neurological Surgeons (SBNS) and the Association of Breast Surgery (ABS), ensuring surgeons across multiple specialties can access expert advice when they need it most.

The addition of Professor Duncan Summerton, Mr Nick James, Susan Willis and Thomas Watcyn-Jones reflects CBS's continued commitment to expanding the reach and expertise of the Surgical Advisory Service.
